As you read this I’ll be sunning myself in Halkidiki. Apparently it’s 30 degrees. Not to make you all jealous or anything.
As most of you probably already know, I’m a sun safety girl. High factor, big sunglasses, even bigger hat. Unfortunately my skin still suffers – prickly heat, increased dry patches (the SPF doesn’t help, neither does the increased use of cleanser/scrubbing to remove it) and I obviously remain pale and decidedly un-interesting.
I have fair eyebrows which I have tinted and waxed every few weeks or so. On holiday they fade uber quickly. I have never found a pencil that didn’t smudge or slide off within the hour in warm climates. That was until my sister recommended Goof Proof. It is exactly that – goof proof. It shapes your brows, fills them in beautifully and doesn’t budge until you choose to remove it. The shade selection is fairly extensive and Light 01 is the best ash/taupe for blondes I’ve found. I also like the fact they offer a mini version which is ideal for travel or if you simply want to try before you commit to the full size.
With regards the (ghostly) pale situation, I have already mentioned my adoration for Elizabeth Arden’s Forever Bronze palette (subtle yet effective) but Benefit’s new Hoola “Lite” is definitely trying to steal it’s thunder. The original Hoola was my favourite bronzer for years – matt and blendable, this “Lite” version is a winner for fair skins all year round, it gives a pretty golden glow rather than a full on bronzed tan.
It was my sister that initially recommended the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight mask for a parched complexion, then a few other of you also sang the praises of this miracle tube of hydration. I love it. It works – flaky patches are gone by breakfast and I find I can even wear a thin layer during the day under make-up. It’s packed in my toiletries case for after-beach replenishment. I’ve also been trialling Bioderma Hydrabio serum after reading all sorts of positive reviews on line. It sinks in quickly and seems to make my skin that little bit fresher looking, it’s scented but doesn’t cause any reaction on my sensitive epidermis. I’m going to try it instead of a moisturising cream whilst away – I’m not a fan of loads of different products in the heat so I’ll update you if this was sufficient as a stand alone hydrator.
Last but not least there’s Chanel. Specifically Chanel nail lacquer in “Sea Whip” – part of the 2017 Cruise Collection. I don’t have another shade quite like it in my beauty arsenal, kind of a nude/coral with a hint of…citrus. It’s beautiful. And as I type my toes are looking ever so polished following a pre-holiday pedi.
What make-up are you packing for sunshine? Do you tend to wear bronzer only in summer? I am still yet to discover a waterproof mascara that doesn’t rip my lashes out whilst trying to remove it so any recommendations would be most welcome.
